Make your offer

Small oil painting on canvas from the 16th and 17th centuries, probably representing a deceased saint.

We say probably because we have not yet been able to understand the true and real identity of the painted subject despite there being several sentences on the back, unfortunately not all of which are clear and legible.

The first sentence says TRUE EFFIGIE.. then there is a sentence indicating that this work was blessed with a probable date.

So there is different and important information that leads us to deduce that the subject is a saint, probably a Dominican nun. A curious thing, perhaps the most unusual, is the presence of a laurel wreath placed on the head of the remains. A curious and certainly interesting object full of history.

Italy 16th-17th century.

Dimensions 35.5 x 24 cm (14" x 9.4")
