Magnificent bronze holy water stoup sculpture of the highest manufacturing quality.

An angel embracing a woman, and holding a cross in his hand facing the dragon, symbol of the devil with the apple in his mouth, symbol of original sin.

In the center the classic shell, used as a container for holy water. Probably the woman embraced by the angel could be a character referring to some noble family member, where the artist created this wonderful work on commission.

Probably French origin, 19th century.
