Rare pine wood (cirmolo) sculpture of ANDREAS HOFER, the famous Tyrolean national hero and Austrian leader of the early 1800s who became the commander against the invasion of Tyrol by Napoleon's French troops.

Magnificent sculpture handcrafted and then painted by the artist Alois Leis Müller in 1938, engraved on the base on the back. The representation of the hero with a spiked mace is rare and evocative.

Provenance of an important Alto Adige collection.
